WILLIAMSBURG — W. Ray Taylor, 58, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, in Williamsburg Community Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Toano, and for the past 37 years, he farmed in and around James City County. Ray was known as a devoted family man and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.
Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his father, Stewart U. Taylor. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Judith Taylor; his mother, Lonell Taylor; two daughters, Wendy Taylor Brown, and Kathy and her husband, Kevin Rhind; two sons, S. Todd Taylor and his wife, Shelly, and Matthew Ray Taylor; two sisters, Beverly Hall and Barbara McKown; two brothers, Clifton Taylor and William V. Taylor; three grandchildren, Kyle Rhind, Katelin Rhind and Hannah Chasse Brown; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 9, at Liberty Baptist Church in Lanexa. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
