BRITTON
Charles C. "Junie" Britton Jr., 86, a retired City of Richmond employee, died Wednesday, July 24, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Alice K. Britton; his children, Barbara Britton Nunnally and her husband, Robert L. Nunnally of Highland Springs and Patty Britton and her friend, David Powers of Goochland; his sister-in-law, Helen Jeanne Keeling. Mr. Britton was born and raised in Church Hill. He was a lifelong member of St. John's Episcopal Church, where his mother and father and other family members attended. He was with the U.S. Army 604th Engineer Battalion during WWII, serving in Northern France, Rhineland and England, where he received two Bronze Stars. He worked at Parker Field for over 30 years and was an avid New York Yankees fan. He was a member of Northside Lodge No. 292 A.F.&A.M. and was also a member of the Musician's Union and a drummer in several local dance bands. Remains rest at the Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 East Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday.
