TAYLOR, William Vernon, 63, passed away peacefully at his home on November 27, 2007 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Bill was born December 27, 1943 in Bell's Hospital to the late Stewart U. Taylor and Lonell Timberlake Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, W. Ray Taylor and Clifton S. Taylor. Bill attended school in Toano until the formation of the Williamsburg/James City County School System. He then went onto Mathew Whaley Elementary and James Blair High School. Bill spent his childhood in a loving Christian home on his parent's farm in Toano. At a young age Bill accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior while attending Liberty Baptist Church in Lanexa, Va., where he was a lifelong member. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Patricia Jean Weymouth Taylor; two sisters, Barbara McKown and husband, Richard, Beverly Hall and husband, Jimmy; two sons, Chris Taylor and wife, Dayna, Randy Taylor and wife, Margaret; two grandchildren, Dylan and Bethany; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Taylor was gifted with a unique ability to figure and manage construction road and site projects as well as operate heavy equipment. Their partnership continued for over 20 years until Robert Piggott's retirement. Bill loved the Lord, his family and the Toano Community in which he lived. During Bill's lifetime he had many accomplishments, but his greatest was the pride he took in seeing his sons, Chris and Randy, join and operate Toano Contractors Inc. He will always serve as an inspiration to those who knew and loved him. He will be greatly missed. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Mark Ellis and his staff, as well as to all of the special caregivers who gave their support and aid to Bill and his family.
