CARTER, Florence Slater Carter, 80, of West Point, died Thursday, May 23, 2002. She was a United States Navy veteran of WWII. Her husband, Earnest Edward Carter; son, William Earnest Carter; sister, Beatrice S. Grey; and brother, Alvin Slater preceded her in death. She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Karen and Clifford R. Bell Jr. of West Point and Pam and Billy Moore of Gloucester; a son, Mark Carter of West Point; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Saturday 2 p.m. at Vincent Funeral Home, West Point, Va. Burial in Sunny Slope Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to West Point Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad Inc., Box X, West Point, Va. 23181.
