Obituary
LANEXA - Arnold Benjamin 'A.B.' Burcham has gone on to his heavenly home on Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at Sentara Williamsburg Community Hospital in Williamsburg, at the age of 79, with all of his family members at his bedside. A lifetime resident of Lanexa, Mr. Burcham was born in Amelia County, the son of Charles Columbus Burcham and Feaby Coetter (Kate) Smith. Mr. Burcham was a Master Carpenter, and worked on the construction of many hotels/motels in the Williamsburg area, as well as schools and post offices in the surrounding areas. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Susie Hicks Burcham; his children, Carolyn Ann Venable and husband, John, Sheila Lynn Everingham and husband, Rick, Kirk Benjamin and his wife, Laura, all of Lanexa, Arnold Curtis (Buddy) and wife, Vicki, of Toano, Randy James and wife, Dianne, of Barhamsville, Marvin Lewis and wife, Karen, of Haddock, Md., Stuart Glenn and wife, Eula, of Williamsburg, Janet Marie Bearden and husband, Billy, of Carrollton, Ga.; 21 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Rawlin Burcham of Toano and Charles Eugene Burcham of Richmond; and one sister, Ethel B. Hicks of Mechanicsville. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday at Vincent Funeral Home in West Point. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Tabernacle Methodist Church in Barhamsville. Burial will take place in the church cemetery with the Rev. Michael Mayton officiating. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to The Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 8th Ave., 6th Fl., New York, NY 10001.
