Obituary
WILLIAMSBURG - Fay Lyonel Parr passes at 94. Born Sept. 26, 1913 and died March 30, 2008.
She was born in 1913 on Spotswood Street next to the Governor's Palace and is one of Williamsburg's oldest residents. She has been loved and cherished through the years by many generations, as she lived in the local area. She was a journalist with the Daily Press and also an editor with the Napa Daily Record in California, and has written stories about many of the people and places she loved. The library carries many of her articles of the history of Williamburg before the restoration by Colonial Williamsburg. They did a book of memories of Fay Parr, when she was 90. Her mind was sharp till the last breath and she could tell you every street and who lived there and gave many a wonderful tour of her Williamsburg where she grew up.
She has always been a devoted patriot and loved her country and even wrote music and lyrics to "What Can I Do For My Country?" She had two brothers in the service and two sons and often wrote articles on Memorial Day for the veterans and their families.
Fay Lyonel moved to California in 1960 and began a career of working with the Napa Record and writing free lance. She was honored in "Who's Who of American Business Women". She helped many chapters of American Business Womens Associations get set up and she was a member of the Easter Star. She loved her work and thrived on writing about interesting people.
Her greatest love was for Williamsburg and the beauty of the city which grew from a small village to the beautiful city of today.
Fay was married to James Erwin Dula (deceased) in 1929 and they had three children, James Erwin Dula, Jr. (deceased); Joseph Calloway Dula (deceased) and Faye Lyonel Dula Hobbs of North Carolina.
She was married to Macbaeth Danel Dula (deceased) in 1960 in Vallejo, Calif. (no children).
She married Harold Hudson Fox (deceased) in 1972 (no children).
She is survived by her brothers, Bertram Larry Parr and Harold Benjiman Bobbitt.
Her sisters, Gladys and Eillen are deceased.
