Nettie A. Hazelwood passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2005 at home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Hazelwood was a native of Michigan and was a Toano resident for 59 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Madelyn Hastings and Marjorie Newcombe. Mrs. Hazelwood was a member of Liberty Baptist Church for 58 years and taught Sunday school for a number of years. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Pocahontas Chapter #103, the Toano Woman's Club and the Garden Club. Mrs. Hazelwood is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, R. M. "Sam" Hazelwood Jr.; two sons, R. M. Hazelwood III and his wife, Dalea, Larry L. Hazelwood and his wife, Sherry; daughter, Deborah H. Drudge and her husband, Stan; and five grandchildren, R. M. Hazelwood IV, Tyler Hazelwood, Meredith Hazelwood, Allison Hazelwood and Katelyn Drudge. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg. Funeral services will be held at Liberty Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 26, 2005, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Dr. George Barnes officiating. Interment will be in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made in her memory to the Williamsburg Hospice House, 4445 Powhatan Parkway, Williamsburg, Va. 23188. Obituary
Robert M. "Sam" Hazelwood, Jr., 88, of Toano, VA, passed away on December 18, 2013. He was preceded in death by Nettie A. Hazelwood, wife of 58 years.
He worked as a Real Estate Broker with Hazelwood Realtors and Prudential Towne Realty. Sam was a lifelong member of Liberty Baptist Church. He was involved in many civic and professional organizations for the betterment of JCC. His real love and hobby was work.
He is survived by his sons, R.M. Hazelwood, III (Dalea) and Larry Hazelwood (Sherry); daughter, Deborah H. Drudge (Stan); grandchildren, Robert M. Hazelwood IV, Tyler Hazelwood, Meredith Mckee (Andrew), Allison Brown (Russell), and Kate Drudge; and great-grandson, Robert M. Hazelwood, V.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 20 from 6-8pm at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, VA 23188. A service will take place on Saturday, December 21 at 3pm, at Liberty Baptist Church, 15810 Liberty Church Rd., Lanexa, VA 23089. Interment will follow the service.
