Thomas A. McMichael, 79, of Stafford County passed away Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, at Potomac Hospital. Mr. McMichael was a World War II Marine Corps veteran and an Iwo Jima survivor.

He was a member of the 4th Marine Division Association, National Rifle Association, Antique Automobile Club of America, Virginia Gun Collectors Association and Historic Fredericksburg Region Antique Automobile Club of America.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine H. McMichael; two sons, Lawrence Edward McMichael of Stafford and Thomas Harold McMichael of Caroline County; his daughter, Juanita Cruz of Mexico; a sister, Mary Rose Johnson of California; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford Chapel. A graveside service will be private.
