The daughter of Jacob and Mary (Richardson) Rusie, she was the granddaughter of Michael and Catharine Rusie. Carrie married Alva Fletcher on April 29, 1885. Alva died in 1917. At the time of her death she was survived by two daughters, Mary Stephenson of Danville, Illinois and Ellen Stephenson of Brazil, Indiana (they married brothers); three sons, Chase (who is buried beside her), Herman, and Stewart; two sisters, Rosa Brownfield of St. Louis and Ora Comer; and five brothers (unnamed in the record). Carrie's last residence had been in Plainfield.
