LITZINGER, HERMAN A.
Of Lanham, on November 27, 2002; the beloved friend of Nancy and Irving Custis; survived by eight brothers and sisters. Friends may call the LEE FUNERAL HOME, INC., Branch Ave. & Coventry Way, Clinton, MD on Wednesday, December 4 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. with service starting at 7 p.m. Interment Polomoke City, MD.

Herman A. Litzinger
Musician and Teacher Herman A. Litzinger, 75, a musician and retired teacher who had lived in the Washington area since the 1950s, died of bone cancer Nov. 28 at the Crescent Cities Center nursing home in Riverdale. He lived in Lanham.
Mr. Litzinger was band director at Lackey High School in Indian Head from 1956 to the late 1960s, and then at Wheaton High School until retiring from teaching in 1976.
He played piano at the Roma Restaurant in Washington in the 1980s. For about the past three years, he played piano at Eiffel Tower Cafe in Leesburg. He also had recently played at Ristorante Il Borgo in McLean.
Mr. Litzinger was a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania and received a master's degree in music from Catholic University. He did further work in music at Ball State University and taught music in his native Pennsylvania before moving here.
He served with the Navy in China during World War II and with the Army during the Korean conflict.
Mr. Litzinger had played clarinet in both the Greenbelt Community Band and the University of Maryland Community Band.
His marriage to Nancy Litzinger ended in divorce.
Survivors include a brother and four sisters.
