She was born in Marion to the late Albert C. and Byrdie (DeWeese) Meade. She married George E. Sower. He preceded her in death. She retired from teaching at Franklin Elementary School. She attended New Hope Methodist Church. She was a member of the Marion Hospital Auxiliary, Phi Delta Kappa, Marion Moose Chapter 35, CPC Sympathy Club, Marion Chapter of Eastern Star, Indiana State Teachers Association, Retired Teachers of Grant County, YWCA and the Van Buren American Legion Ladies.

Survivors include a daughter, Jane Ann (Jimmy) Wainscott, Marion; sister, LaVelah Dailey, Marion; and adopted family, Gilbert and Linda Foudray, Marion, and daughters, Sara and Lena.

She also was preceded in death by brothers, Richard and David Meade. 35
