Carl Richard "Dick" Potts 82, Mooresville, died January 27, 2007 in Meadow Lakes, Mooresville, Indiana. He was born May 30, 1924 in Terre Haute, Indiana to the late Ben & Kate Ruttman Potts.
He was in management in the financial industry, having worked for American Loan and for Welfare Finance both in Indianapolis. He retired from Roger Popp, Inc. Mr. Potts was a veteran of World War II and was the recipient of two Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Mooresville VFW and had served as past commander. In addition, he was an avid golfer having been the club champion many times at Mooresville Eagle Pines. He founded and managed a yearly golf outing in memory of his friend, Dr. James H. Bivin, which awarded a $1000 yearly scholarship for 25 consecutive years.
He was the youngest of eight children and was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Wanda (Rusie) Potts; daughters, Peggy Shirar of Mooresville, Jan Gutweiler of Boston, MA, and Dona Potts of Mooresville; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be private. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2007, in Carlisle & Son Funeral Chapel, Mooresville, with Rev. Kelly Whitehurst officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Mooresville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Share your favorite memory of Mr. Potts at
