Charles "Charlie" Holdaway 84, Indianapolis, passed away December 26, 2004. He was born November 28, 1920 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to the late Charles and Nellie (Doyle) Holdaway.
After graduating from Arsenal Technical High School, Charlie proudly served in the U.S. Navy with PT Boat squadrons in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters during W.W.II. Charlie began his career as the Electronic Parts Manager for Associated Distributors, Inc. after which he worked in sales for Rodefeld Distributors, Wayne Distributors and most recently worked for Electronic Service and Parts Co. for over 15 years.After his retirement, he worked for his lifelong favorite team, The Indianapolis Indians.
Charlie was a member of Old Bethel United Methodist Church, a Past Commander of American Legion Post #465, Vice President of the Indianapolis City Salesman's Club, American Legion Post #495, Englewood Masonic Lodge #715, Moose Lodge #17 and the Tech Alumni Luncheon Club.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 61 years, Frances M. Pomeroy; sons, Chuck (Stephanie) and Steve (Mit) Holdaway; daughters, Carol Williams, Cheri Sapp (Kevin Kinz), Cindy (Jim) Leffel and Cathy Fergerson; brother and sister-in-laws Robert W. (Patricia) Pomeroy, Eleise Kinnick and Louise Petty; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p. m. Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at the Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 E. Washington St., followed by funeral services at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday December 30, 2004. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Charlie to the A.L.S. Association of Indiana, 1980 E. 116th St., Suite 105, Indianapolis, IN 46032. Charlie was a loving and giving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
