Whipple, Austin Crary - Austin Crary Whipple, son of Orville and Adrienne Whipple, was born in Harrison County, Mo., near Eagleville, Jan 28, 1873, and passed away at his home in Sharpsburg Jan 13, at the age of 81 years, 11 months and 18 days.
He was united in marriage to Lula Allen Feb 26, 1899. To this union four children were born: Clella Harman of Griswold, la.; Neva Pfander of Gravity, Iowa; Dean of Conway, la.; and Lloyd who died in infancy.
Besides his wife and children he leaves to mourn his passing one brother Harry of Long Beach, Calif.; a sister, Gertrude Swain of Osceola, la., 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews and many friends.
After his marriage he and his wife moved to farm near Guss. Later the family moved to Mills County, and from there to Colorado. Two years later the family moved back to Iowa and lived near Avoca for two years. From Avoca they moved to Mills County where they lived for ten years. In 1922 the family moved to Taylor County in the Sharpsburg community.
Mr Whipple joined the church at Mt Gilliad, a country church, near Eagleville, Mo., when he was 16 years of age. While living in Mills County he transferred his membership to the Presbyterian church at Emerson, Iowa. When he moved to the Sharpsburg community in 1922 he transferred his membership to the Presbyterian church of Sharpsburg, where he remained an active member until the time of his death.
