NEVA PFANDER - Services for Neva Pfander, 83, were held March 25 at Shum- Novinger Funeral Home. Burial was at Washington Cemetery in Gravity, Ia. Mrs. Pfander died March 23, 1988 at her home in Bedford, Ia.

Neva Olive Whipple Pfander, daughter of Austin Crary and Lula Whipple was born at Emerson, Iowa November 4, 1904.

She lived in Mills County through 11th grade when they moved to Sharpsburg, where she completed 12th grade, becoming the first 12th grade graduate. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

On Nov. 4, 1922 she was united in marriage to Cloyd W. [illiam] Pfander at her parents home in Sharpsburg and they lived in the Sharpsburg area.

To this union seven children were born, Lorna Hall, Long Beach, Ca.; Horace Pfander, Ft. Collins, Co.; Maxine Bates, Coon Rapids, Mn.; Melvin Pfander, Sharpsburg, Ia.; Betty Robertson, Belton, Mo.; Berneice Allen, St. Joseph, Mo.; and Eloise Cunningham, Fayetteville, N.C.

Her life was spent caring for her home and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, and a brother.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, seven children, 18 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. She has one uncle, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

She attended Bedford Christian-Presbyterian Church and participated in its women's group activities.

She was a kind and considerate wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
