Mae Caldwell Manwarning Plant Hayward Rovensky was one of the wealthiest women in the United States at the time of her passing. At her death she was married to John Edward Rovensky, her forth husband. She died at her home, Clarendon Court, in Newport, Connecticut. Mrs. Rovensky was first married to Seldon B. Manwarning whom she divorced in 1914. One month later she married Morton Freeman Plant, a railroad and steamship magnet. He was also the Commodore of the New York Yacht club. Upon his death in 1918 Mrs. Plant inherited a sum of $50 million dollars, a considerable amount at the time. In 1919 she married Col. William Hayward, United States District Attorney for the Southern Region of New York. Col. Hayward had won considerable recognition for his prosecutions during the early years of prohibition. It was from this husband she inherited her Newport Home. Finally she would marry John Edward Rovensky a banking and financial leader. The New York home she built with Norton Plant would later become Christie's Auction House on 5th Ave.35
