Obituary
Bettendorf - Wilton J. "Bill" Houck, of Bettendorf, died Wednesday, July 19, 2006, at Bettendorf Healthcare. Private family services will be held at National Cemetery. Runge Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bettendorf Presbyterian Church.

Bill was born December 10, 1910, in Morristown, Tennessee, the son of William Claude and Laura Mae Houck.

During World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Fla. Following his discharge in 1945, he and his wife, Mildred, enjoyed farming in south central Iowa near Garden Grove. The family moved to Bettendorf, Iowa, in 1963 where Bill worked at the former J.I. Case Company's Bettendorf plant before retiring in 1973.

Those left to honor his memory include his sister, Phyllis; his daughter, Virginia Houck, Minneapolis, Minn.; his son, Donald, and his wife, Alice Houck, of Aurora, Ill., their daughters, Kara (Harris), and her husband, Matt Cieri, Bakersfield, Calif., and Dacia Harris, Asheville, N.C.; and his son, Duane, and his wife, Deborah Houck, Bettendorf, Iowa.
His wife, Mildred, his parents, brothers, Cliff, Edward, Warren, and Deral, and infant sister, Kathleen, preceded him in death.
