Obituary
Rachel Hoffman Mills, 96, of Woodbridge, formerly of Remington, Alexandria, and Fredericksburg, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the Adler Center in Aldie, Virginia.
Mrs. Mills was a native of Remington, Virginia and began her working days at the State Bank of Remington, later at the Old Dominion Bank in Arlington. She volunteered as the organist at Remington Baptist Church. During World War II she worked as a telephone operator in Washington, D.C. While devoting her time to homemaking, she assisted with her husband’s contracting business. As a member of First Baptist Church Alexandria for 56 years, she volunteered in areas of children’s Sunday School, Women’s Missionary Union, and programs for Senior Adults. In retirement, Mrs. Mills and her late husband divided their time between homes in Fredericksburg, VA and the Colonial Beach, VA area.
She is predeceased by her husband, Dolan Mills; two brothers, W. Wynant Hoffman and James Edward Hoffman. She leaves behind her two children; son, Wesley Mills of Springfield, VA and daughter, Carol Ann Mills of Woodbridge, VA; two grandchildren, Alison Onaran and husband, Erol of Gainesville, VA and Ryan Mills of Springfield, VA; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Evan Onaran; sister-in-law, Barbara Mills Lee of Staunton, VA, and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
