THURSTON, Odell Parron, 102, of Henrico County, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack O. Thurston; son, Edgar Burrow Marks; parents, Edgar Burrow Parron and Pearl Lee Parron. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Gwendolyn M. Marks; grandchildren, Kimberly Marks Campbell, Karen Marks Harrington; great-grandchildren, Travis Walker Harrington, Ian Spencer Campbell, Caroline Odell Campbell and Christian Graydon Campbell; and her special friend and caregiver, Elva Carroll. Odell was a member of Four Mile Creek Baptist Church. She was a deeply devoted daughter, mother and grandmother. Family will receive friends at 1 p.m. November 24, 2009 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va., where services will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

"Marks, James C., husband of Irene (nee Urschel), beloved father of Edgar B. of Richmond, Va., Jimmy and Leila Beth, son of Elizabeth Marks of Waynesboro, Va., and three brothers, two sisters, passed away May 2. Friends received 3-5 And 7-9 P. M. Tuesday at the Saxton Funeral Home, 13215 Detroit Ave., where Masonic services will be held Tuesday at 8 p. m. Ministerial services Wednesday at 1:30 p. m.

Patrolman Welford Green was shot and killed after responding to a domestic dispute at a local restaurant.
While the officer was talking with the parties, the male was able to grab a shotgun and open fire, killing Patrolman Green.

Mack O'Neil Thurston, of Varina, died Friday, August 16, 1991. He is survived by his wife, Odell Meade Thurston; stepson E.B. Marks, of Richmond; three sons, Dewey T. Thurston, of Statesville, NC, William Thurston, of Aylett, VA, and Thomas Thurston of Sandston; one sister, Iva Marino, of Richmond; eight grandchildren. Mr. Thurston was a member of Four Mile Creek Baptist Church and a member of the Thomas N. Davis Masonic Lodge No. 351 AF&AM. Remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday and where a Masonic service will be held 7:00 p.m. Sunday. Interment Four Mile Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
